AS MANY OF YOU KNOW our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Social has in recent years taken place in February at the wonderful Amex Stadium. For those that attend, we regularly hear that the social event that takes place after is one of their highlights of the year. However, despite the fantastic location overlooking the pitch, great food and entertainment, attendance to both the AGM and Social has been in decline, even though we usually give out all of the tickets.
Travel distance isn’t necessarily the main issue either, as despite the Brighton location, our Brighton members are those least likely to attend. It is the Social part of the evening which costs Branch a substantial amount of money to make it free. The Social is there to help increase attendance to the AGM, but now is clearly not working, and therefore cannot be seen as value for money. So our Committee believes it may be time for a change.
