Brighton and Hove Trade Council November and December events and actions

At the end of this week and next there are some local events to get along to if you can.



On Saturday 30th November there is a demonstration of solidarity with LGBTQ+ people in Russia "To Russia with Love, Brighton" starts at 12 Noon at New Steine Gardens off St James' St,  by the HIV memorial with speaker including Peter Tatchell, local 'My Genderation' documentary filmmaker Raphael Francis Fox, Russian LGBT activist Ksenia Zhivago and local Green and Socialist Party members.


On Sunday 1st December The Peoples’ Assembly is holding a meeting on council cuts. Speakers include

Cllr George Barratt - Independent, Barking & Dagenham, Cllr Ben Duncan - Green, Queens Park Ward, Brighton & Hove Council, Andy Richards - Chair, Brighton & Hove Unison

2:30pm at Community Base on Queens Road


On Tuesday 3rd December UCU, Unison and Unite will be on strike against a derisory pay offer. This strike will cover both Brighton and Sussex Universities and this time in addition City College.

Pickets are expected at the major sites of all institutions in the morning and I will send out details of strike day events asap.



Finally the Trades Council at its last meeting agreed to support the Orgeave Truth and Justice Campaign and we would ask your union branch and campaign groups look to do the same
